Hemp has enjoyed a hugely productive January, scoring twice and registering an assist in a 7-0 beating from newcomers from WSL Aston Villa. The 20-year-old England international also had two more assists in City’s victories against Brighton and West Ham.

Kelly, who moved from Everton to City last summer, also found the net against Villa and had two assists. She went on to have a hat-trick in assists when City beat Brighton 7-1 and also scored in the game to end January with two goals and five assists.

Toone played a crucial role in United’s WSL title challenge. His side lost a close game against Chelsea for the kick-off in January, but local talent scored in subsequent wins against Everton and Birmingham which put his side back atop the league table.

Just months after returning to football after a career-threatening illness, Kirby has been in masterful form for Chelsea. She scored four goals in a 5-0 rout against former club Reading and was calm and composed when she scored the winner against Manchester United.

Having joined Chelsea from Bayern Munich last summer, Leupolz is finding his marks in English football and has drawn praise from manager Hayes in particular. The Germany international also added more goals to his game in January with a brace against Tottenham.

Public vote for Barclays Player of the Month is open until 12 noon on Friday 12 February.
